Well-heeled country life
Lewisburg has recently been named to the annual list of America's Dozen Distinctive Destinations by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and was on Pinnacle Living Magazine's list of the 2006 Best of the Mountain Awards.
Founded in 1782, Lewisburg includes a 235-acre Historic District that includes many buildings of architectural interest such as the Old Stone Presbyterian Church and the John Wesley United Methodist Church built in the 1830s. Be sure to visit the impressive collections at the General Lewis Inn and the North House Museum. Other places of interest include the Maple Street Historic District; Andrew Lewis Park; Carnegie Hall, a Confederate cemetery of soldiers killed during the Battle of Lewisburg; and the Greenbrier, "America's Resort."
The small-town atmosphere in Lewisburg is a throw back to another time when people greeted one another on the street, knew their neighbors and appreciated a strong sense of community. Make yourself at home! |
